Are the winter doldrums getting to you and your preteen? If you are looking for an excuse to get your kid out of the house this weekend then Thalia Kids' Book Club may be your answer. On Sunday, March 1st, two-time Newbery Honor winner Gary Schmidt will talk about his novel the Wednesday Wars, a comic tale of a 12-year-old Long Island boy growing up in the Vietnam era. The event features the actor Khris Lewin reading excerpts from the book, a free-wheeling discussion between the author and the audience, a creative writing project led by the author, and a book signing.
