The New Victory Theater, New York City's only full-time performing arts theater for kids, has just begun its 2009/10 season and includes some exciting productions for tweens. As well as offering stimulating entertainment for this age group, the New Vic offers tickets at a price-point that is considered extremely reasonable by today's standards. Tickets range from $12.50 - 50.

Hansel and Gretel
October 15 - November 1
Ages 8 - Adult

Creepy, funny and perfect for Halloween, this production of Hansel and Gretel is anything but traditional theater. Hansel, Gretel and the audience follow a trail of breadcrumbs through the theater building. The story starts with a visit to Hansel and Gretel's home, continues with a hair-raising walk through the forest and ends at the mouth-watering home of the evil witch. This tour is sure to delight everyone.

Ridiculously funny best describes the slapstick antics of this talented trio. Perfect for tweens, this variety show features juggling, acrobatics, gross-out humor and audience participation. If you are looking for a reasonably priced theater experience for the holidays this could be the ticket.

The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (abridged)
March 5 - 14
Ages 11 - Adult

Three actors take audiences on a high-speed romp of all 37 of Shakespeare's plays. Highlights include a nothing-is-sacred parody of Romeo and Juliet, the Titus Andronicus cooking show and a rap of Othello. A proven favorite, this is one of London's longest running comedies.

"Is it possible?" you ask. Yes, claims this Australian troupe, if you don't count laughter, cheering and applause. This cheeky four-some push their own limits as they perform extreme aerial and acrobatic acts all in the spirit of competitive camaraderie.

Elephant

Celebrate spring with African song, storytelling, tribal dance and stunning elephant puppets. This play tells the story of Chief Zanenvula, a good man and respected chief of his tribe, who has been forbidden entry to heaven. Distraught, he calls on his ancestors to find the answer. Elephant is a powerful tale that brings to life themes of family, redemption, and "Ubuntu" (humanity).
